Eligibility

Not every continuity professional qualifies. That is by design.

Every LYL BCM credential requires documented business continuity experience at the level it certifies. The requirements are published, fixed, and applied to every candidate in the same way — whether they prepare through official training or independently.

Leadership CBCD® Certified Business Continuity Director	Heads of business continuity, directors of resilience, chief risk officers with continuity accountability	10 years	8 years with CBCM®	150 questions 3 hours Program-level project work across 6 domains 80% to pass

Qualifying experience includes business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis and incident management, operational resilience, emergency management, and risk, IT or facilities roles carrying continuity responsibility. Experience is assessed on responsibility and functional scope, not job title alone. Roles are typical, not a restriction: eligibility is set by experience.

How the requirements apply

Reduced requirements apply only to holders of the named credential, active and in good standing. A lapsed annual maintenance fee forfeits the reduced pathway.
One reduction per credential. Reductions do not combine.
Experience is declared at application and may be verified by LYL BCM at any time, including after award.
Meeting the experience requirement allows a candidate to sit the examination. The credential is awarded only on passing the proctored examination at a minimum score of 80%, plus approved project work for CBCM® and CBCD®.
